The first project was a group one. We had to get in groups of 3 to 4 and walk from the Interior Design classroom in the Johnston Building to the Ruby Diamond Auditorium. On the way, we were to pay attention to the environment-- the sounds, smells, colors, feelings. Then, we were to abstractly represent our "Diagram of A Journey." Let me just say this was a struggle for me. I had a hard time with the whole group thing because I have really strong ideas and with a team effort everyone's ideas have to be integrated. We worked it all out though and ended up with a B + on it.
Our second project was an individual one. We had to find full page magazine advertisements and:
First- Diagram them. This means drawing out the path the eye takes as it moves through the ad.
Second- Abstractly represent the composition, using shapes. Your final composition could only use shades of grey and black.
Here's what I came up with (this is the project the teacher kept):

The third project was an individual study of the use of line. Using a map of FSU we had to choose a section and represent it abstractly through line. I really wanted to play around with line and it's texture so, if you look carefully, you can see that each line is actually ripped...there are frayed edges on each line.

Finally, the project I just turned in yesterday was similar to the one above, but this time it focused on shape. I really tried to use shape in it's truest form and make sure that there was no use of line whatsoever. I really feel like I accomplished that! You can check it out for yourself though ; ] (I'm still waiting for the grade on this one)

As you can see, I have been a busy woman with this program but I have loved every minute! God has truly blessed me in my major and I know that He has big things planned! Woo-hoo!

Your projects are awesome! A far cry from the all nighter we took on the Decades project! Remember the scrapbooking stickers? Miss you and your projects very much! Love ya bunches.
You are so talented. Do you think you can give me just one ounce of your drawing capabilities! The kids would be so thankful, especially when they ask for a sketch of Nemo! ha! Keep us updated on the projects, I love seeing them! By the way, what part of the FSU map did you create?
It was like the smallest, most unimportant section ever! lol Actually, it was like where all the sidewalks meet btwn Rovetta Business and the Union [if that helps any!]
Cool! You'll have to show me when we finally get to come for a visit!
